Valentine is gone.

We had to help Valentine over the rainbow bridge yesterday morning.  She had developed acute pain in her hips.  We tried to treat it but it became too much for her to bear.  We will never know if the pain was due to osteo spreading somewhere or arthritis or wear from being a tripawd.

She was graceful and stoic and, as many of you know from your own experiences, will be missed and missed and missed.  She made everything better.

We are grateful to have found Tripawds.com back during the initial shock of her diagnosis back in February 2015.  You offered us support and guidance and inspiration.  She made it to 28 months and had a wonderful quality of life.   She was initially diagnosed on February 12th, two days before she turned 8 years old.  We were full of joy to celebrate her 10th birthday a few months ago. Thank you.

  1. I am so sorry to hear of Valentine’s loss. She will always be with you. This part of the journey is the hardest. No one can tell you when the hurt will stop as it is individual.

  2. I’m so so sorry. Even though you got 28 months I know it wasn’t enough was it? No matter how long we get its never enough. Valentine was certainly a mighty warrior though and your beautiful girl gave hope to many starting on this journey. Sending you healing peace at this hardest part of the journey. Fly free new Angel!

  3. I’m so, so sad to read this. How blessed you were to share your life with Valentine and to be there for her.

  4. I am so very sorry to hear about Valentine. She was obviously very deeply loved and will be terribly missed. I really loved her 10 years old birthday picture – she is just gorgeous. I grew up watching Lassie and always thought collies were so smart and pretty. I’m sure your Valentine was no exception. How did she get her name? (There must be a story?).
Please know that we are thinking of you and Miss V.
    Lots of Love,

  5. I got sucked right in to Valentine’s story and made it back to the first entry so now I see she is a Valentine’s Day BABY!! Of course she is, perfect. Nothing but Love. – Amy & Rusty

  6. 28 months is an incredible, incredible champion level achievement and we bow to Valentine. What a beautiful tribute to you both. The transition journey is the hardest but you know with every breath that Valentine is simply going ahead and preparing a place for all of you to meet again. Your love for each other is an unbreakable bond. Thank you for sharing her grace and stoicism with all of us. Huge hugs to you during this difficult time.
